Avanafil is a PDE5 inhibitor approved for erectile dysfunction by FDA on April 27, 2012 and by EMA on June 21, 2013.
How Avanafil works?
Avanafil works by relaxing muscles in the penis. This increases blood flow into the penis, allowing more blood to enter when you are sexually aroused.
Avanafil is a PDE5 inhibitor. PDE5 is an enzyme found in certain body tissues, including the penis. When sexual stimulation occurs, nitric oxide is released into the penis, and this triggers a chemical called cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP). cGMP relaxes and widens blood vessels in the penis, allowing more blood to enter. Avanafil inhibits PDE5, preventing it from breaking down cGMP so that blood vessels can stay open and blood flow can continue.
Avanafil has been shown to be effective in treating erectile dysfunction in men of all ages and has been shown to increase erections and improve sexual performance in men with erectile dysfunction due to various causes, including diabetes and prostate surgery.
